On March 10, 2015, the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires Kingston Division broke off negotiations with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Local 00818, stating that the Corps would be applying for Conciliation. The Corps employs 85 workers, 75% of which are veterans. With an older workforce with the median age in the late 50’s, having paid sick leave is a necessity. Currently, workers do not have any paid sick leave, and are forced to lose a day’s pay when ill.

September 19, 2013 Queen’s Postpones Conciliation Talks After two days of conciliation this week, Queen’s University has pulled out of bargaining, saying that the University needs more time to respond to the Union’s proposals. The decision by the University to delay further talks came after the Postdoctoral Fellows’ bargaining team gave Queen’s a comprehensive counter-proposal on wages, benefits, union security provisions and management rights.
