Every year, on the second Wednesday of April, is International Day of Pink. This year the Day falls on April 12th. The Day is a worldwide anti-bullying, and anti- homophobia, -biphobia, and -transphobia event.
The Day started when a gay Canadian high-school student was witnessed by two fellow students as being bullied at their school for wearing a pink shirt. The two students got everyone at their school to wear pink the following day as a gesture of support. This inspired Jer’s Vision (now Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity) to establish the International Day of Pink.
In addition to encouraging all members to wear pink on this Day, we also urge you to read The Micropedia of Microaggressions, a tool to learn about the different microaggressions people experience and unlearn the behaviours that cause them to create more inclusive spaces.
