Toronto Racialized Members’ Committee: Juneteenth Celebration
June 19, 2026
6:30 - 8:30pm
Toronto Regional Office
Save the Date for our 2026 Juneteenth event Friday, June 19th – 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Toronto Regional Office (90 Eglinton Ave E, 6th Floor, Large Boardroom). This event is open to PSAC Members in Good Standing in the Toronto Area. Please note that this event has limited spots available, priority will be given to Members who self-identify as Racialized.
While Juneteenth is a uniquely American holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the US, its message of freedom and equality has inspired people around the world including right here in Toronto. Many people don’t realize that slavery once existed in Canada – or that it was a critical destination along the Underground Railroad for those seeking freedom. We will have special guest speakers and performers:
- Women’s Committee Representatives – Cece Cameron (PSAC Toronto Committee Chair and CEIU Ontario Human Rights and Race Relations (HRRR)) and Karen Spencer-Cousins (Toronto Committee Rep and CEIU Ontario Women’s Rep)
- Dewitt Lee III, Founder of Caretakers of Our Culture
- Richard ‘Popkorn’ – Drum Performance
- Lisa Prescott (CEIU Ontario NVP)
