The Katarokwi Indigenous Action Circle of PSAC invites all indigenous and non-indigenous members to a Beading and Teaching event on September 29, 2023. This event will be led by Tammy Ocean, an indigenous beading artist, along with knowledge keeper Paul Carl. With Truth & Reconciliation approaching, this event will provide members with an opportunity to learn traditional beading art while learning what Truth and Reconciliation means through circle, teachings, and stories. Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is a time to recognize and commemorate the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools, and to honour their survivors, their families and communities. Paul will discuss the history, impact, and how to be an ally. All supplies will be provided along with a light dinner. Space is limited so we encourage you (and your loved ones!), to sign up as soon as possible.
