The Grievance Handling course gives new shop stewards essential knowledge for handling Level I Grievances. Participants gain a better understanding of how to work with members at the initial stages of the grievance procedure and how to mobilize members around workplace problems.
Open to: All members and new Local Stewards are encouraged to apply.
Prerequisite: The Talking Union Basics (TUB) or its equivalent.
This course will be delivered over 4 separate days. Please read the dates and times carefully.
Session 1 – Saturday, November 13, 2021 – 9:00 am to 1:30 pm
Session 2 – Sunday, November 14, 2021 – 9:00 am to 1:30 pm
Session 3 – Saturday, November 20, 2021 – 9:00 am to 1:30 pm
Session 4 – Sunday, November 21, 2021 – 9:00 am to 1:30 pm
This course is best suited for participation on a computer (desktop or laptop). A mobile device can be used (tablet, cell phone) however the participant experience may be affected.
Upon successful completion of the course, member entitlement will be calculated as follows:
Per Diem: A per diem will be paid in accordance with the PSAC approved policy. The course is 18 hours of training and it must be completed in its entirety before the per diem is issued.

Loss of Salary: Eligible loss of salary reimbursement will be paid to members attending the virtual Talking Union Basics, during hours in which they were scheduled to work. Any eligible loss of salary will be reimbursed upon confirmation of full attendance and completion of the course and in accordance with the applicable PSAC policy.
