We are pleased to announce new dates for the PSAC Ontario 2023 Directly Chartered Locals Conference, whichwill take place from November 23-26, 2023, at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel & Suites (600 Hwy 7, Richmond Hill, ON). The conference theme isOrganize, Mobilize, Win!
Participants will learn best practices for mobilization using an organizing model approach, participate in the KAIROS Blanket Exercise, and build solidarity among DCLS.
Registrations must be submitted by end of day on October 20th, 2023
Please complete the registration form by October 20th, 2023. All members in good standing from Directly Chartered Locals are welcome to register.
Note: Members who have already registered prior to postponement will be contacted to confirm your participation for the new dates, and they need not re-register
Each DCL shall be entitled to two (2) delegates for the first one (1) to two hundred and fifteen (215) members and one (1) additional delegate for each additional two hundred and fifteen (215) members or fraction thereof.
Only members in good standing may attend the Conference as Delegates or Observers; however, Observers will be responsible for all costs associated with their participation, including loss of salary, meals, hotel, travel arrangements and incidental costs. Observers do not have the right to voice or vote during the Conference.
Selection of Participants
Participants will be selected to ensure diversity from across the region, first-time delegates, equity, union involvement and experience. If, for some unforeseen reason, the selected delegate cannot make it to the conference then members from that Local on the waitlist will be contacted. Travel:
All travel plans will be made on a case by case basis taking into account the delegate’s location, the most direct and economical means of travel, reasonable hours of travel and in accordance with the PSAC Travel Policy (http://psacunion.ca/psac-travel-policy). All delegates will need to contact Rohit Revi (revir@psac-afpc.com) to discuss individual requirements.
Personal Vehicles and Mileage:
Delegates who choose to drive will be reimbursed according to the PSAC rates chart and the PSAC Travel Policy (http://psacunion.ca/psac-travel-policy). This travel requires prior approval and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Accommodation:
In order to foster an environment of solidarity the Directly Chartered Locals Conference is an in-residence experience. This means delegates will stay onsite at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel & Suites. The Conference is scheduled to begin on November 24th. Delegates traveling from outside of Toronto should arrange to arrive in the afternoon of Thursday, November 23th . The Conference will adjourn at noon on Sunday, November 26th, 2023.
All accommodations will be arranged on your behalf, and are based on single occupancy. Room charges and applicable taxes will be directly billed to the PSAC. A deposit will be required upon check-in for incidental room charges. This is normally handled using a personal credit card. If the use of a personal credit card is not possible, please contact Rohit Revi (revir@psac-afpc.com) to discuss alternatives. If you require an advance, please also contact Rohit Revi as soon as possible.
Meals:
Delegates will be responsible for their own meals during the conference.
Delegates will be reimbursed for meal(s) while in transit on Thursday, November 23th 2023 and for meal(s) while in transit on Sunday, November 26th 2023. Dinner allowance will be claimable from Thursday, November 23rd to Sunday, November 26th 2023 for all delegates. Please ensure that any dietary requirements and or food allergies are provided in the “Special Requirements” section of your registration form.
Loss of Salary:
Loss of salary will be compensated for any hours that a delegate was regularly scheduled to work. With prior approval, loss of salary may be compensated for travel on Thursday, November 23rd 2023 for delegates who cannot travel after working hours.
For reimbursement, delegates must have:
- A copy of a recent pay stub;
- A copy of a shift schedule for the period of the conference (if a shift worker); and
- A completed Leave Without Pay form (where applicable).
Paperless Conference:
The Organizing Committee’s aim is to deliver a paperless conference. All delegates are encouraged to participate by bringing a laptop, or you may request the use of a PSAC loaner laptop for the duration of the Conference (a request for a loaner laptop can be indicated in the “Special Requirements” field of the registration form). For those who would prefer to receive hard copies of delegate materials, please clearly indicate this preference on the registration form (you may use the “Special Requirements” portion of the form).
Family Care:
Family Care costs will be reimbursed as per the PSAC Family Care Policy.

COVID-19:
We will follow all regional public health guidelines at the time of the conference. If you experience any symptoms at the Conference, you will be required to isolate in your hotel room and contact Rohit Revi, at revir@psac-afpc.com and/or 613-770-9449. A Rapid Test will be arranged to be delivered to your room.
