A tentative agreement on behalf of PSAC members working for Western University as Graduate Teaching Assistants was reached on April 25, 2024.
Ratification votes took place on April 26 and 27, 2024, where an overwhelming majority of the membership voted to ratify the new collective agreement, which will expire on August 31, 2027.
“After two days of intense negotiations, our bargaining team was successful in making improvements to Western’s last offer, securing an agreement that improves the working conditions for GTAs at Western,” states Pardis Baha, President of PSAC Local 610. “Most importantly, we were able to negotiate protections for our members from any claw-backs to GTA funding.”
The new contract includes an overall increase of 10.92% over the 4-year period, retroactive back to January 1, 2024; an increase to sick leave; and greater transparency on the initial funding package to GTAs with protections against any claw-backs.
