Asexual Awareness Week

The last full week in October is Asexual Awareness Week or Ace Week (ace is a phonetic shortening of the word asexual). This year, the dates are October 23 to 29. The Week is an international campaign that seeks to educate people about ace experiences, and celebrate the community. This Week is crucial for helping more people understand the fundamental diversity of human sexuality.

The vocabulary around ace identities is relatively new compared to other segments of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Under the ace umbrella we have: Aromantic. Asexual. Demiromantic. Demisexual. Gray Asexual. Grayromantic. Just to name a few.

Huffington Post’s sexual and romantic spectrum infographic shows the diversity within the ace community.

The Asexual Visibility & Education Network (AVEN) and Asexual Awareness Week are great places to start learning more.
