Sault Ste Marie Aboriginal Circle (SSMAC)
Ahniin/Hello to all,
The First Nations citizens of PSAC members in the areas surrounding Sault Ste. Marie area are proud to be hosting the first official meeting for the formation of the Sault Ste. Marie Aboriginal Circle (SSMAC) in Ojibway territory which will include the appointments of the Executive body.
Please join us in this very exciting and historical journey. All locals are encouraged to invite the Aboriginal peoples within their workplaces, however this is an open invitation to all so please make the effort to attend.
It is our hope to have a good turn out for this inaugural meeting and we have invited our REVP, Gerry Halabecki, Regional Rep on Council, Kevin Nadjiwon, Aboriginal Officer, Michael Desautels, Area Rep on Council, Kevin McNama, SSM Women's Committee Chair, Connie Lento, SSM Area President, Marg Clark, Regional Reps Dave Doyle and Debbie St. Germaine, as well as our own Local Presidents and Component Presidents.
Our goal is to ensure that PSAC Aboriginal members, values and traditions are reflected within the PSAC and as such we will be hosting the meeting on the Garden River First Nation. The SSCMACer's will work along side all other PSAC members and union labour bodies in fighting for social justice.
The venue will include beverages and snacks, depending on funding there may be a feast and perhaps a social afterwards but we will provide more details on that and the agenda as the date becomes closer.
Should anyone require directions or a ride or should you have questions, please contact any of us on the contact information below and we would be happy to make the arrangements.
Place: Garden River Community Centre, Hwy 17 East
Date: Wednesday March 10th, 2010
Time: 6:00 - 9:00 pm
