Community Right to Know Act

Sisters and Brothers

Pleaser consider lending your voice in support of Bill 164 - a proposed Community Right to Know Act  - the first bill to advance a citizens right to know in decades. The Bill has passed first and second reading and committee - it could become law if the government brings it forward for third reading/vote.

During the fall of 2006, the PSAC region held a number of Health and Safety Conferences throughout the province, with the theme "Supporting the struggle for healthy workplaces and communities".  This is an opportunity to take action to help our communities.

Attached below please find a copy of the letter from the Regional Representative/Health and Safety to Premier McGuinty, cc'd to Laurel Broten - the Minister of the Environment, and Jim Bradley - the Government House Leader.

Letter [word] [pdf]

It is important to send the emails/faxes/letters on Monday and Tuesday, as the house leader is in the midst of determining the schedule of what to call during these two days.

If you do not wish to write a letter, you could either e-mail or fax a couple of sentence request for the government to bring Bill 164 before the legislature for third reading, prior to the summer recess.

The three in government involved in getting this before the legislature for the third and final reading.
