Season Greetings from the Greater Toronto Area Council of PSAC.
The Federal Elections of 2006 is upon us. The Greater Toronto Area Council will be participating in various activities to bring the issues that are important to our members to the attention of the candidates in the various ridings.
As a member of the PSAC it is our responsibility to elect candidates who will respect our rights as workers and members of a larger community.
The Greater Toronto Area Council has been working to ensure that phone banks will be up and running in the beginning of January 2006. The phone banks are intended to inform the membership of election issues that impact on them. The Phone Banks will also working at promoting participation on Election Day on January 23, 2006.
The Phone Banks will be operating on January 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th and 17th between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. If you would like to volunteer to work on our Phone Banks, please call The Toronto Regional Office at 416 485 3558.
Some of the issues that our membership has identified as important are:
Pension Plan Surplus Grab
Health Care
Child Care
Make Poverty History
Aboriginal Rights
Whistleblowing Protection.
Please check the Ontario Regional PSAC website daily for updates on the different activities that will be occurring in the next few weeks.

All Candidates Debate on Children’s Issues

We are focusing on important Children’s Issues and we hope that you will come out to hear where the politicians stand on issues of child care, children’s poverty, housing etc.
We are counting on you to bring out your friends, family, and co-workers – people who you know would be interested in this debate—to inform their decision on Election Day January 23, 2006.
