Re:         Ratification of a Tentative Agreement

 

The Bargaining Team has reached a tentative agreement during this round of negotiations and is recommending acceptance. If ratified, the new Collective Agreement would expire on 31st March 2019.

In addition to a number of minor language changes, the main highlights include:

  • Deletion of Duals accumulating Bargaining Unit Seniority
  • Pre-booked leave for Union Officers to hold Union Office hours on-site
  • The inclusion of both gender identity and gender expression as prohibited grounds for discrimination
  • The Employer will provide all members of the bargaining unit with in-class Human Rights and Workplace Harassment training and will meet with the union to review their respective training materials and where possible conduct joint training delivery
  • Improvements to the Hours of Work Article, the Scheduling Letter of Understanding and a new Christmas Holiday Schedules Letter of Understanding
  • Increases to the Meal voucher to $10 (was $6.00) for missed meal period & Overtime meals
  • Improvements and clarification to the Posting Article, including a process for both temporary Secondments and Permanent Full-time postings
  • Increase to twenty (20) (was ten (10)) days of training available for members affected by Technological Change
  • Establishes a February 1st deadline by which the Employer must advise Employees of their approved Vacation Leave picks
  • Employee canceled vacation does not need to be re-scheduled for the same duration
  • A three (3) year deal, that if ratified, will expire on 31st March 2019.

As of the date of ratification, payment of a lump-sum payment of $1,250 to each active bargaining unit employee

On the first regular payroll date following April 1, 2018, payment of $1,250 to each active bargaining unit employee as of April 1, 2018.

Appendix A Rates of Pay

Members wishing to vote on the tentative agreement must attend one of the scheduled Ratification Vote meetings. Bargaining team members, including the PSAC Negotiator, will be in attendance at each meeting to present the Tentative Agreement and be available for questions prior to voting.

The Ratification Vote Meetings are being scheduled. The dates, times and location are as follows:

Voting Dates & Times for Collective Agreement

Wednesday, March 8th from 6pm to 1am

Meeting times of 6pm, 7:30pm, 9pm, 10:30pm and midnight

Friday, March 10th from 6am to 1pm

Meeting times of 6am, 7:30am, 9am, 10:30am and noon
